After traveling around the world as a street artist, and emigrating to the USA in 1996, I’ve been developing a studio practice. Much of my early work records travels and life experience characterized by abstract figurative work in the Zanzibar series, based on travels in East Africa. My recent work is more abstract and conceptual. ‘Particulate Fields’ are a series of reductionist colorfield paintings. Multiple almost identical strokes of gesso act as a resist to layers of translucent color washes of pure pigment and acrylic medium. The resultant paintings are peaceful meditations exploring the. feelings and sensations generated by color itself.
